ClamWin Free Antivirus is a scanner for viruses and spyware. The virus/spyware database is constantly maintained by a group of volunteers, and you can always get the latest updates via the Internet. Note that ClamWin Free Antivirus does not include an on-access real-time scanner i.e. you need to manually scan a file in order to detect a virus or spyware.

This release V0.93 addresses a security vulnerability in ClamAV engine and adds significant improvements:
Considerably faster scanning speed
More intelligent database updates with online connection status checking
Improved archived files handling.

ClamWin Portable is a portable wrapper for ClamWin. You may also want to check out ClamWinPortableDBUpdate that automatically updates the virus definitions database in your ClamWin Portable installation periodically or during startup.

ClamWinPortableDBUpdate is a tiny open source program that updates the virus definitions database in your ClamWin Portable installation without your having to launch ClamWin Portable.

Consider using ClamWinPortableDBUpdate if:
1. You are using ClamWin Portable on a removable storage device (USB flash drive, etc) and you want a one-click way to update virus definitions.
2. You are using ClamWin Portable on a fixed drive and you want to automate virus definition updates—for example at login or at a fixed time every day.

Please note that ClamWinPortableDBUpdate will only update virus definition files. It will not update the ClamWin Portable executable. Also, ClamWinPortableDBUpdate was designed to work only with ClamWin Portable. It is not designed to work with regular ClamWin or with other “portable” versions of ClamWin.

ClamWinPortableDBUpdate has been tested with ClamWin Portable 0.92 on Windows XP SP2.
